Is the puncture result accurate?

Is the puncture result accurate?

Many diseases in life require puncture when they cannot be diagnosed. Usually, the accuracy of the puncture results is very high. For many cancers, the puncture examination generally does not find any problems. Most of the time, there is no need to worry too much. If there is a problem with the puncture results, timely treatment is required. Actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment and maintain a good attitude at ordinary times.

Are amniocentesis results accurate?

The number of chromosome pairs can be seen in the amniocentesis chromosome karyotype results. If there are 22 pairs of autosomes plus a pair of sex chromosomes xy, then it means that the fetus is a cute little handsome boy. If there are 22 pairs of autochromatin chromosomes plus a pair of sex chromosomes xx, you will be a beautiful girl. Generally, the test results will be available two to three weeks after amniocentesis.

Some pregnant mothers may ask whether they will feel uncomfortable after amniocentesis. Indeed, there may be pain at the needle insertion site after amniocentesis. Some pregnant women may experience a little vaginal bleeding or increased discharge, but it is not a big problem and will disappear within a few days. However, if there are strong adverse reactions, you need to go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time. Generally, after amniocentesis, you cannot do any heavy work, and you don’t need to get injections or take medicines. Just a little rest is enough.

When is amniocentesis performed?

Generally, it is most appropriate to perform amniocentesis around 16 weeks of pregnancy, that is, 14-18 weeks. If it is done before 14 weeks, the amount of amniotic fluid will be insufficient and amniocentesis will be more difficult. It cannot be done too early, but it cannot be done too late either, because after 22 weeks, the fetus is already relatively fully developed. If abnormalities are found at this time and it is confirmed that the pregnant mother is not suitable to continue the pregnancy, it will be more difficult to terminate the pregnancy, and it will be a greater blow to the pregnant mother.

You don't need to fast for amniocentesis, but before you actually start amniocentesis, you still need to do some examinations, such as measuring body temperature, listening to fetal heart rate, B-ultrasound, etc., to determine the position of the placenta, the condition of the fetus, the condition of the amniotic fluid, etc. After the examination, a decision can be made whether to perform a puncture. Therefore, pregnant mothers need to reserve some time, and it is best to register in the morning.

Amniocentesis is an important examination method during pregnancy, and it is recommended that every pregnant mother do it once. But one thing you need to know is that all test results are not necessarily accurate. Deviations are inevitable, but with the results we have a general understanding of the situation, and we can conduct further examinations or treatments based on the test results.
