What are the symptoms of teratoma

Teratoma is a very small tumor that does not cause much harm to the body, and it is also a very rare disease. For many patients with teratoma, it is not easy to detect because of its small size and non-function, but some symptoms will still appear. So are there a few symptoms that will make you pay attention?

Clinical symptoms of teratoma

If this type of tumor is small or non-functional, there are usually no specific clinical symptoms. Early symptoms mainly include low back pain, abnormal motor sensation and reflexes of both lower limbs, impotence, and bladder and rectal sphincter dysfunction. Compared with other tumors in the spinal canal, patients with this type of tumor have the following characteristics in addition to a younger age of onset and a longer course of disease:

①Since cysts are mainly located in the lower part of the spinal cord, the cone and cauda equina are more common, so waist and leg pain is more common, often presenting as dull pain or severe radicular pain;

② There are many patients with rectal bladder dysfunction, about 80% of patients have urination and defecation dysfunction;

③ Damage to the motor system may be atypical. When the cyst is combined with lumbar spina bifida, the lower end of the spinal cord is often fixed in a lower position;

④ If combined with pilonidal sinus, it can often cause intracranial infection. In a few cases of pilonidal sinus, irritation from the contents of the cyst may cause symptoms such as fever.

The diagnosis of intraspinal teratoma is not difficult in the era of the development of magnetic resonance imaging technology. MRI can accurately determine the location, size, characteristics of the tumor and the development of the adjacent spine and spinal cord, which is of great significance for the formulation of surgical plans and the judgment of prognosis. For those with symptoms of intracranial inflammation, especially those with repeated attacks and dermatophytes in the lower back and back, the diagnosis of this disease should be considered first. For those with low back pain, a long medical history, a young age, and motor and sensory disorders in both lower limbs and poor bowel and bladder function, they should be alert to the possibility of this disease and undergo thoracic and lumbar MRI examinations as soon as possible to confirm the diagnosis.

Although teratoma is not very big, it still affects people's health. It is definitely a good thing if it can be discovered early. If it is discovered, it should be treated early. Don't delay it until it gets worse. Your body is your own. Only you know how to take care of it. I hope you are healthy. Thank you for your visit. Thank you!
