When is the best time to have surgery for ovarian tumor

The ovaries must go through two transitions in a woman's life: puberty and menopause. Adolescence is the period when the ovarian structure matures, and menopause is the period when the ovarian function begins to decline. During these two periods, the ovaries are very susceptible to stimulation from various factors inside and outside the body, and ovarian tumors may occur. Especially during the period of vigorous development, the cells proliferate rapidly, and it is easy to be stimulated and develop tumors. Therefore, female puberty can be described as a "tumultuous period". The ovaries are not only an organ prone to tumors, but also have many types of tumors. In general, ovarian tumors in adolescent women have the following characteristics.

1. Benign ovarian tumors account for the majority, but the proportion of malignant tumors is also higher than that of other age groups, and the tumors are mostly solid and grow rapidly.

2. Tumors are easy to detect because girls are slender and have small intra-abdominal spaces. When ovarian tumors grow, they can easily compress other organs and cause corresponding symptoms. For example, compression of the rectum can cause constipation, and compression of the bladder can cause urination problems. Therefore, mothers should pay attention to the waist and abdominal circumference of girls and seek medical attention in time if any abnormality is found.

3. Abnormal symptoms such as uterine bleeding and irregular menstruation occur.

4. Some ovarian tumors in young girls have secretory functions. Therefore, patients may develop early or have accelerated sexual maturity.

5. Surgical resection of benign tumors in adolescence is very effective, not only preventing malignant transformation, but also preventing complications such as pedicle torsion. If the tumor is malignant, it should be removed as soon as possible, combined with radiotherapy or anticancer drug treatment.
