What causes bile duct cancer

What causes bile duct cancer

Biliary duct cancer is very difficult to treat, which has a great impact on the lives of many patients and poses a great threat to their life and health. Some patients even despair and think that cancer cannot be cured. But do you know what causes bile duct cancer? Let's talk about it below.

1. Bile duct stones

About 1/3 of patients with bile duct cancer have concurrent bile duct stones, and 5% to 10% of patients with bile duct stones will develop bile duct cancer. This suggests that the bile duct is stimulated by stones for a long time, and the epithelium undergoes proliferative changes, which may be related to the occurrence of bile duct cancer.

2. Clonorchis sinensis

In Southeast Asia, eating raw fish infected with liver flukes leads to bile duct infection, bile stasis, peribiliary fibrosis and bile duct hyperplasia, which is one of the factors leading to bile duct cancer. People who are used to eating foods rich in nitrites are more likely to develop cancer.

3. Cystic dilatation of the bile duct

A small number of patients with cystic dilatation of the bile duct develop cancer. The main causes of cancer are stone formation in the cyst, bacterial infection, and especially reflux of pancreatic juice due to abnormal development of the confluence.

4. Primary sclerosing cholangitis

It has been reported that primary sclerosing cholangitis is a precursor of bile duct cancer.

Diet for bile duct cancer:

You should choose foods that are easy to digest and absorb, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, avoid or eat less oily and high-fat foods, avoid greasy foods when jaundice occurs, and ensure adequate fiber intake every day.

You must abstain from alcohol and smoking, adjust the total calories to balance it according to the physical activity, and consciously choose some foods that have auxiliary anti-cancer effects, such as seaweed, carrots, mushrooms, asparagus, day lily, and tomatoes. Pay attention to improving your eating habits and cooking methods, and keep a happy mood when eating.

Since bile duct cancer is a relatively difficult disease to treat, in order to avoid the accelerated expansion of cancer cells, if you are unfortunately attacked by bile duct cancer, you must go to a regular medical institution for treatment as soon as possible to prevent the disease from continuing to deteriorate and posing a greater threat to yourself.
