What tests should be done for bile duct cancer

Everyone may have heard of bile duct cancer, but don't know much about it. It is a relatively serious disease. When it comes to a malignant tumor like bile duct cancer, it is obvious that we are at a loss. When we encounter it, we really don't know what to do or how to face it. Today, let's talk about what examinations should be done for bile duct cancer.

With the continuous progress of society, there are more and more diseases in people's lives, and many of them have brought serious impacts on people's normal life and work. It is an important reason that we cannot ignore. Biliary duct cancer is a disease that often occurs in our daily life. It can be said that many of us should not feel unfamiliar with this disease. This is mainly because the harm brought by this disease to people is very serious, so we still need to seriously understand it. Let us explain to you some common examination methods for this disease.

1. Imaging examination

Imaging examinations can help to confirm the diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma, understand the presence of metastatic lesions, and assess whether the tumor can be removed.

2. Laboratory examination

Total blood bilirubin, direct bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase and γ-glutamyl transferase may be significantly elevated, and transaminases are generally mildly abnormal. This imbalance in bilirubin and transaminase elevation helps to differentiate it from viral hepatitis, and the prothrombin time is prolonged.

3. CT examination

CT can more accurately display the location and range of bile duct dilatation and obstruction, and has a high accuracy in determining the nature of lesions. Three-dimensional spiral CT cholangiography (SCTC) has a tendency to replace PTC and ERCP examinations.

4. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography

MRCP examination is a non-invasive biliary imaging technique. It can show the whole picture of the intrahepatic bile duct tree, the location and range of tumor obstruction, and whether there is invasion of liver parenchyma or liver metastasis. It is currently an ideal imaging examination method for hilar cholangiocarcinoma.

The above are the commonly used examination methods for bile duct cancer. I hope they can help you solve your problems.
