How to identify the symptoms of milk powder allergy?

Children's diet is the most concerned issue for parents, especially for babies who are breastfeeding. The correct feeding method can make the baby grow faster. However, some babies can only eat milk powder because of insufficient breast milk. Since milk powder is artificially processed, it is possible that there will be certain side effects. Among them, allergies are a relatively harmful side effect. Let’s take a look at how to determine the symptoms of milk powder allergy?

Symptoms of baby milk powder allergy

1. Gastrointestinal tract : refusal to drink milk, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, blood in stool, etc. A small number of milk allergies can also cause constipation in infants and children.

2. Respiratory aspects : There may be wheezing, frequent coughing, runny nose, rhinitis, etc.

3. Skin : Children may have atopic dermatitis or eczema, edema around the lips or eyelids, urticaria, etc.

4. Related complications such as irritability, frequent crying, growth retardation, iron deficiency anemia, conjunctivitis, etc.

New fathers must be very anxious about what the baby should eat since he can neither eat breast milk nor cow's milk. For babies who are allergic to milk, the most commonly used method is desensitization. The specific steps are as follows:

First stop feeding milk and dairy products for 2 weeks, and instead use other milk substitutes, such as goat milk, soy milk, etc.

After two weeks, start feeding a small amount of milk, first 10 ml. If no allergic reaction occurs, increase by 5 ml every few days, gradually increase to find the appropriate amount without allergic reaction. You can continue to drink the insufficient amount and supplement it with other milk substitutes until you return to normal milk feeding.

During the desensitization process, you can supplement with appropriate amounts of vitamin C or calcium gluconate tablets to enhance the body's metabolic and detoxification capabilities.

After using this method, most babies can return to normal, but for a few babies, the symptoms will become more and more serious during the desensitization process. Do not force desensitization at this time. You can temporarily switch to other milk substitutes and continue after the symptoms have eased.
