What are the early symptoms of pituitary tumors

The causes of pituitary tumors are very complicated. Each disease has certain onset signals. When pituitary tumors occur, the body will also have some abnormal symptoms. It is also necessary to understand its symptoms so that everyone can detect the disease in time and avoid worsening of the disease without treatment. So, what are the early symptoms of pituitary tumors?

Symptoms of pituitary tumors:

1. Symptoms and signs of optic nerve compression: As the tumor grows in the sella turcica, it compresses the optic chiasm or optic nerve as it develops upward, causing changes in vision and visual field. More than 90% of patients have decreased vision, which may be monocular vision loss, and may even cause blindness in one or both eyes.

2. Symptoms and signs of endocrine and metabolic disorders: The endocrine function of the pituitary gland is very complex. It is mainly under the control of the central nervous system and controls the growth, development, metabolism, sexual organs, sexual function and other physiological activities of the human body through endocrine regulation.

3. Hypopituitarism: The degree of hypopituitarism is related to the degree of pressure on normal pituitary gland cells. Due to the hypofunction of the anterior pituitary gland, the endocrine glands it controls atrophy, showing various functional disorders.

4. Hyperpituitarism: Eosinophils can produce growth hormone and prolactin. Basophils produce thyroid-stimulating hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone and gonadotropin. Therefore, this type of tumor can cause hyperpituitarism, especially in the early stage.

5. Hormone changes: Various types of secretory adenomas can secrete excessive hormones, which can produce different symptoms of hyperendocrine hyperfunction in the early stages. Non-secreting adenomas can compress and destroy anterior pituitary cells, resulting in a decrease in troponin and corresponding target cell dysfunction, which can produce clinical symptoms of endocrine hypofunction. A few cases of endocrine adenomas can also produce hypopituitarism in the late stages of the disease.

The above are the symptoms of pituitary tumors. I hope that patients will seek medical attention in time if they experience such symptoms. Once again, I wish you all good health!
