Many patients want to know whether the cure rate of testicular cancer is high. In fact, after active early treatment, the cure rate of testicular cancer is still very high, and can even reach more than 90%. However, when it develops to the middle or late stages, the cure rate will drop seriously, affecting the patient's health. This shows how important it is to actively treat testicular cancer in the early stages. If a man is diagnosed with testicular cancer, he or she must undergo radical orchiectomy and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. The cure rate for early testicular cancer is more than 90%, while it is less than 50% in late stages. Testicular cancer usually occurs in men in their twenties and thirties, especially those with a family history of testicular cancer. The typical symptom of testicular cancer in the early stage is swelling and hardness of one testicle. As the disease progresses, 30% of patients will experience a feeling of heaviness or dull pain, and 10% of patients will experience severe pain due to intratumoral bleeding, necrosis or acute epididymitis. Therefore, if such symptoms occur, the possibility of testicular cancer should be highly suspected, and tumor marker tests should be performed: for example, elevated blood alpha-fetoprotein indicates testicular embryonal carcinoma; elevated AFP values indicate that the tumor is highly malignant and easy to metastasize. At the same time, imaging tests such as B-ultrasound and CT should be performed to understand the nature of the mass, whether there is lymph node enlargement, metastasis, etc. Testicular cancer is mainly divided into two categories: germ cell tumors and non-germ cell tumors. Germ cell tumors include seminoma, teratoma, embryonal carcinoma, and choriocarcinoma; non-germ cell tumors include gonadal stromal tumor, gonadal germ cell tumor, rete testis adenoma, interstitial tumor, carcinoid, and residual adrenal tumor. Among them, germ cell tumors account for more than 90% of testicular cancer. |
