At present, more and more scholars support that pituitary adenomas originate from the pituitary itself, because the excessive secretion of hormones released by the hypothalamus rarely causes real tumor formation, but only stimulates the proliferation of corresponding pituitary endocrine cells and the increase in the secretion of corresponding hormones; pituitary tumor resection shows that the symptoms of hyperhormonal hyperactivity after surgery are rapidly relieved, and the recurrence rate of long-term follow-up is low; histological studies have shown that the edge of pituitary adenoma is not surrounded by hyperplastic tissue, indicating that pituitary adenoma is not caused by excessive stimulation of hypothalamic hormones.

Characteristics of pituitary tumors: Objectively speaking, pituitary tumors are benign tumors that grow on the pituitary gland. Benign means that pituitary tumors will not endanger life, but its growth location - the pituitary gland determines its severity. Therefore, if pituitary tumors are treated in the early stages, the cure rate is relatively high, but if it reaches the late stages, it may not be so easy. The goals of pituitary tumor treatment are to inhibit the autonomous hormone secretion of the tumor, remove the tumor to the greatest extent, maintain normal pituitary function, reduce the impact of the tumor on vision, prevent tumor recurrence, and prevent and deal with complications. At present, there are three main treatments for pituitary tumors: drug therapy, surgical treatment, and radiotherapy. The choice of treatment method mainly depends on the type of pituitary tumor.
