How long does it take to completely cure glioma?

Glioma is a highly malignant tumor of the glial tissue. It not only grows fast, but also grows irregularly along the nerve tissue. It can usually be treated surgically, but it will still recur after treatment. So, how long will it take for glioma to be completely cured?

Gliomas are the most common primary brain tumors caused by cancerous changes in glial cells in the brain and spinal cord. The symptoms and signs caused by gliomas mainly depend on their space-occupying effect and the functions of the affected brain areas. Due to their space-occupying effect, gliomas can cause patients to have symptoms such as headaches, nausea and vomiting, epilepsy, and blurred vision.

Intracranial gliomas are difficult to cure and are prone to recurrence. The treatment effect and life expectancy of patients depend on the benign or malignant degree of the glioma, the location of the tumor, the range of surgical resection, etc. Patients with low-grade malignant gliomas generally have an average survival of 8-10 years. The higher the malignancy, the shorter the average survival period. For recurrent gliomas, reoperation, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatment measures can be given according to the patient's condition.

Active treatment is the key to prolonging life. Biological therapy is recommended. Biological therapy can be used to treat cancer patients at all stages, especially those with advanced tumors who have lost the opportunity for surgery or have poor physical fitness, cannot tolerate large doses of radiation and chemotherapy, or are insensitive to chemotherapy and have drug resistance. Biological therapy alone can significantly improve symptoms, improve quality of life, and prolong survival time.
