What are the side effects of bladder cancer intravenous chemotherapy

Bladder cancer is a common tumor of the urinary system. Once a patient has a bladder tumor, he or she needs not only active treatment, but also scientific treatment. Do not blindly believe in any "cancer cure" advertised in advertisements. It can be said without mercy that bladder cancer cannot be cured, but it can be controlled. Even after the patient has undergone surgery, this cancer has a high recurrence rate and needs active treatment. So what are the side effects of bladder cancer infusion chemotherapy?

Bladder instillation chemotherapy is a type of intracavitary chemotherapy. The doctor uses a urinary catheter to inject chemotherapy drugs into the bladder. After a certain period of retention, the patient will naturally urinate and the treatment is complete. The retention time of different drugs varies, but it should be noted that the retention time needs to be strictly in accordance with the instructions to achieve the best instillation effect of the drug.

There are many local side effects of bladder cancer instillation. Patients are more likely to develop cystitis after chemotherapy. Patients will have obvious symptoms of frequent urination and urgency one or two days after chemotherapy instillation, and they will have symptoms of pain when urinating. Cystoscopy can also reveal extensive edema of the patient's bladder mucosa.

Bladder cancer instillation can also cause severe hematuria. Once a patient has a lot of hematuria, the doctor is advised to suspend the instillation treatment to prevent tuberculosis bacteria from entering the circulation. Otherwise, once tuberculosis bacteria invade, it may even cause sepsis and shock.

There are physical side effects when bladder cancer is instilled. Patients who receive a small amount of bladder cancer instillation sometimes have a fever, a low fever, or even varying degrees of night sweats. Patients also have muscle aches, which are symptoms of mild tuberculosis infection.

Note: Patients with bladder cancer after surgery need to stay away from irritating foods and avoid spicy foods. During bladder cancer infusion, patients need to eat more light and nutritious foods, not too greasy foods.
