How long is the survival time of hepatoblastoma? What are the treatments for hepatoblastoma?

Hepatoblastoma is the most common malignant liver tumor in infants and young children, accounting for more than 80% of primary liver tumors in children. 90% of them occur before the age of 3, and 60% occur in infants under 1 year old. It is more common in boys. So how long can a person survive if hepatoblastoma is diagnosed?

Steps/Methods:

1First: In the past, the treatment of hepatoblastoma was mainly surgical resection, but due to the insidious onset of the disease, more than 60% of children could not completely remove the tumor when diagnosed, so the 5-year survival rate was only 20% to 30%. Preoperative and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy plays an important role in improving the complete resection rate and reducing the recurrence rate.

2. Second: Hepatoblastoma is an embryonic malignant tumor, which can be divided into fetal type, embryonic type, giant trabecular type, small cell undifferentiated type, mixed type and other subtypes in pathology. Among them, the pure fetal type has a good prognosis while the undifferentiated type has a very poor prognosis. For children who are highly suspected of hepatoblastoma, a pathological diagnosis should be made by mass biopsy or surgical removal of the mass.

3 Third: Hepatoblastoma is no longer an incurable disease, and the 5-year survival rate has reached more than 80%. For some children with refractory or recurrent hepatoblastoma, the application of comprehensive treatment methods such as surgery, chemotherapy, liver transplantation, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and biological therapy has also improved the prognosis of these children.

Note:

Parents should often touch their children's abdomens and pay attention to whether there are any swollen masses so that they can be discovered early and diagnosed and treated in time. This is particularly important for their chances of getting radical surgery and improving their prognosis. You should know how to take care of your child. If you don't take care of your child, it will be futile to take medicine. The specific method of conditioning is to pay attention to the regularity of life and eating habits, relax your mood, stay up late less, and have an irregular life.
