How can thyroid cancer be diagnosed? What are the common symptoms of thyroid cancer?

To diagnose thyroid cancer, you can first look at the symptoms. The main symptoms of thyroid cancer are a mass in the neck, thyroid nodules and swollen lymph nodes. In addition to looking at the symptoms, you can also do a clinical examination to diagnose. The most common examination items are B-ultrasound examinations, radionuclide scanning, CT and magnetic resonance imaging examinations.

In the modern society with a constant pace of life, more and more people are suffering from thyroid diseases. Some thyroid diseases may become malignant and develop into thyroid cancer. Although the malignancy of thyroid cancer is relatively low, it still needs timely treatment, otherwise it will still be life-threatening. Before treating thyroid cancer, the condition must be diagnosed first. So how to diagnose thyroid cancer?
1. Diagnose thyroid cancer based on symptoms
1. Neck swelling
If you suffer from thyroid cancer, you will often have a swelling in your neck. This swelling will often move with the swallowing movement, and you may experience difficulty swallowing or symptoms of neck compression. If it compresses the trachea, it will cause difficulty breathing. If it compresses the recurrent laryngeal nerve, it will cause hoarseness.
2. Thyroid nodules and swollen lymph nodes
Thyroid nodules and swollen lymph nodes are also common symptoms of thyroid cancer. In addition to the symptoms of thyroid nodules and swollen lymph nodes, other symptoms of papillary thyroid cancer are not obvious. If the tumor is very small, it is even more difficult to detect. Follicular thyroid cancer will manifest as a nodular goiter, usually a single nodule with a very hard texture.
2. Clinical examination to diagnose thyroid cancer
1. Ultrasound examination

B-ultrasound examination is one of the more common clinical examination methods for diagnosing thyroid cancer. It can diagnose the nature of thyroid tumors and detect tumors that are difficult to find by palpation.
2. Radionuclide scanning
The diagnosis method of thyroid cancer also includes radionuclide scanning. All solid thyroid nodules need to be scanned with radionuclide. Different nodules react differently to radionuclides. If it is a hot nodule, it is benign in most cases, but if it is a cold nodule, the chance of canceration is relatively high and further examination is required.
3. CT and MRI examinations
For people with thyroid cancer, CT and MRI examinations are also very necessary. These examinations help to understand the scope of invasion of thyroid cancer. If metastasis occurs, these examinations can also detect it in time.
