What should I do if I have cardia cancer? How to treat cardia cancer

Cardiac cancer can be treated with surgery, which is generally suitable for early-stage cardia cancer. Another option is endoscopic treatment, including endoscopic mucosal resection and submucosal dissection. In addition, iridium-192 intracavitary brachytherapy can be performed.

Cardiac cancer, also known as esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma, is a malignant disease of the digestive system with a relatively high incidence rate. If not treated in time, the condition will worsen further and even lead to death. So, how to treat cardia cancer?

1. Surgical treatment

Surgery is the first choice for treating cardia cancer, and is mainly used for cardia cancer without lymph node and abdominal organ metastasis and without major complications of the heart, lung or other organs. Timely surgical treatment can remove the cancerous lesions, prevent spread and metastasis, and effectively control the disease.

2. Endoscopic treatment

If the lesion is confined to the esophageal submucosal layer, there is no lymph node or distant organ metastasis, or it is severe atypical hyperplasia, and the diameter of the tumor is less than one centimeter, the lesion is localized, and has clear boundaries, it can be treated endoscopically. Simply put, mucosal resection and submucosal dissection are performed under endoscopy.

3. Radiation therapy

Radiotherapy can be used for patients whose disease has progressed to the middle or late stages or who are not suitable for surgical treatment. Cardiac cancer is not very sensitive to radiation, and traditional external radiotherapy is not effective. Iridium-192 intracavitary brachytherapy is usually used.
