Will colonoscopy cause cross infection?

Will colonoscopy cause cross infection?

If we are sick, we will inevitably go to the hospital for various examinations. Anorectal disease is a relatively common disease and sometimes anoscopy is required. We know that an anoscope will be used many times. If it is not thoroughly disinfected, it may cause disease infection. Some people are always worried about whether they will have symptoms of infection during an anoscopy and have doubts about the hospital's disinfection. So, will anoscopy cause cross infection?

1. Diagnosis of internal hemorrhoids

Mainly rely on anorectal examination.

First, perform an anal inspection and use both hands to pull the anus to both sides. Except for the first stage internal hemorrhoids, the other three stages of internal hemorrhoids can be seen under anal inspection. For those with prolapse, it is best to observe them immediately after defecation in the squatting position. This can clearly show the true size, number and location of the hemorrhoids, which is especially meaningful for diagnosing annular hemorrhoids.

Secondly, do a rectal digital examination: internal hemorrhoids are difficult to palpate when there is no thrombosis or fibrosis, but the main purpose of digital examination is to understand whether there are other lesions in the rectum, especially to exclude rectal cancer and polyps.

Finally, perform anoscopy: first observe whether the rectal mucosa has congestion, edema, ulcers, lumps, etc. After excluding other rectal diseases, observe whether there are hemorrhoids above the tooth line. If so, the internal hemorrhoids can be seen protruding into the anoscope and appear as dark red nodules. At this time, you should pay attention to their number, size and location.

2. Treatment measures

1. Hemorrhoids do not require treatment if they are asymptomatic. You just need to pay attention to your diet, maintain smooth bowel movements, keep the perineum clean, and prevent complications. Only complications such as bleeding, prolapse, thrombosis and incarceration require treatment. Hemorrhoids rarely cause death directly, but if they are not treated properly and serious complications occur, they can be fatal. Therefore, the treatment of hemorrhoids should be cautious and not taken lightly.

2. The purpose of various non-surgical treatments for internal hemorrhoids is to promote fibrosis of the tissue around the hemorrhoids, fix the prolapsed anorectal mucosa to the muscle layer of the rectal wall, and fix the loose anal cushions, thereby achieving the purpose of hemostasis and preventing prolapse.

3. Surgery should only be considered when conservative treatment fails or the connective tissue supporting stage III or IV internal hemorrhoids is extensively destroyed.

3. Note the problem

① Wear a glove or fingertip on your right hand and apply lubricant. First, perform a digital examination around the anus to check for lumps, tenderness, warts, and external hemorrhoids.

② Test the tightness of the anal sphincter. Under normal circumstances, only one finger can be inserted and the anal ring can be felt to contract. The anorectal ring can be touched behind the anal canal.

③ Check the anorectal wall for tenderness, fluctuation, mass and stenosis. If a mass is felt, its size, shape, location, hardness and mobility should be determined.

④ The anterior rectal wall is 4 to 5 cm away from the anal verge. The prostate can be touched in men and the cervix can be touched in women. Do not mistake it for a pathological mass.

⑤ Perform bimanual examination as required and when necessary;

⑥After pulling out the finger, observe the finger sleeve to see if there is any blood or mucus.
