Mydriasis to treat pseudomyopia

Mydriasis to treat pseudomyopia

Many people are not particularly familiar with mydriasis treatment. It has a certain therapeutic effect on pseudomyopia. It is mainly divided into fast dilation and slow dilation. In addition, the medication will also be different, and the speed of the treatment effect will also be different. When using this method of treatment, you must also understand some precautions to avoid harm to the eyes caused by improper treatment. Let us now learn about mydriasis treatment for pseudomyopia.

Mydriasis for pseudomyopia

1. Help you eliminate your current pseudomyopia. Because the ciliary muscle is paralyzed, the spasm caused by eye fatigue will also disappear, and the pseudomyopia will disappear.

2. Help you measure diopter accurately. Refraction, to put it simply, is the degree of adjustment required by the lens when the ciliary muscle does not work.

Seeing this, some people may think that mydriasis is a good thing, but is it actually the case? Let’s continue.

The eye is a sophisticated biological instrument and each of its functions plays an important role. In addition to the ciliary muscle adjusting refraction, the eye also controls the size of the pupil to adjust fundus exposure imaging, etc. In the absence of drug effects, the only time a human's pupils naturally dilate is upon death, so you can imagine how important this is.

There are two types of mydriasis: fast mydriasis and slow mydriasis. Different drugs are used, and the speed of onset of effect and recovery time are also different. During the period of drug effect, human eyes are very fragile!

Damage to the eyes caused by mydriasis

1. Afraid of light!

Because the pupil size cannot be controlled, the fundus is exposed. Just like exposing the film in the old days, it is a kind of damage. The retina at the fundus is connected to the optic nervous system, so if it is damaged it is certainly not a trivial matter, and problems are not easy to observe.

2. Extremely easy to get tired!

When the human eye looks far away, the ciliary muscle (without training) is relaxed, but when looking at close objects, the ciliary muscle needs to exert force to increase the thickness of the lens to help focus. Once the ciliary muscle cannot exert force, the lens cannot focus, and the eyes will become extremely tired without consciously trying to focus. The reason is simple. If you go to work when you are sick, you will definitely be very tired and it is easy to develop a chronic illness.

What’s even more tragic is that during the one or two months after the mydriasis is effective, the children still have to continue to attend classes and do homework, which involves close-up, high-intensity eye use! It can be said that without special protection, the fatigue caused to the eyes during the period of drug effect after the mydriasis may be equal to the fatigue of the eyes in the first half of the year. I have come across some cases where the refractive power increased during mydriasis, which was really frustrating.
