Compared with hepatitis B, hepatitis C is more likely to develop into cirrhosis and liver cancer. Since the symptoms of hepatitis C are highly concealed, it is difficult for ordinary people to detect it in the early stages of hepatitis C. The incubation period can be as long as 20 years, making it a real "hidden master". However, "asymptomatic" does not mean it is harmless. The hepatitis C virus can cause inflammation and scarring of liver cells, which is one of the reasons why hepatitis C is more likely to develop into chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and liver cancer than hepatitis B.

How to prevent chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis from developing into liver cancer

The biggest concern of patients with chronic hepatitis is whether they will develop into cirrhosis or liver cancer. Medical experts at home and abroad also believe that liver cancer has a certain relationship with infection with hepatitis B or C viruses. According to our statistics on hundreds of liver cancer patients, 80.6% of them evolved from chronic hepatitis B. Of course, the prognosis of hepatitis is mostly good (about 90% or more), and it will not develop into cirrhosis and liver cancer. Here, how to do a good job of prevention is particularly important.

It is worth noting that among the liver cancer patients diagnosed in my country every year, more than 90% have a background of hepatitis B (i.e., they have been infected with the hepatitis B virus), and among these people, more than 90% have never received treatment for liver disease. Therefore, early treatment is necessary after contracting hepatitis. In addition, it is also necessary to: avoid using drugs that damage the liver as much as possible; avoid harmful physical factors as much as possible, and reduce the exposure of the liver to X-rays and other radioactive substances; reduce and treat various infections as early as possible; avoid various traumas and surgeries as much as possible, because anesthesia and surgical trauma will be detrimental to the recovery of liver function. If necessary, we must strive to perform surgery after the liver function has recovered; absolutely avoid drinking and overwork.

The factors that cause primary liver cancer are quite complex, and they usually develop on the basis of liver cirrhosis. In addition to viral factors, there needs to be a dual effect of stimulation induced by carcinogens, such as aflatoxin in food, to cause cancer. Nitrosamines in drinking water, nitrites in meat products such as ham, sausage, meat, pickles, etc. also have carcinogenic effects, and grilled or fried meat such as ribs, roasted chicken, roast duck, roasted fish, fried eggs, etc. also contain carcinogenic factors.
