What is ablation therapy for liver cancer? Analysis of ablation therapy for liver cancer

At present, the methods for treating liver cancer in China include drug therapy, surgical treatment, interventional treatment, etc., and they each have corresponding liver cancer patients. In addition, ablation therapy is also a treatment option that is often used in clinical practice. This treatment method also has some relatively unique advantages. Let's take a closer look.

The advantage of ablation therapy is that it is relatively safe, and the operation process is very convenient, and it will not cause great harm to the patient. Ablation therapy refers to a type of treatment method that directly kills tumors locally under the guidance of imaging technology. Currently, radiofrequency and microwave ablation and anhydrous alcohol injection are the most commonly used. Ablation can be performed through the skin, or in laparoscopic surgery or open surgery. Image-guided methods mainly include ultrasound and CT.

Indications. Ablation therapy has certain indications, and only eligible patients can undergo ablation therapy. Indications: For patients with single tumors with a diameter of ≤5 cm or multiple nodules with a maximum diameter of ≤3 cm and no more than 3 nodules, without vascular or bile duct invasion or distant metastasis, and early liver cancer with liver function of Child-Pugh A or B, radiofrequency or microwave ablation is the best choice other than surgery. Small liver cancers with a single tumor diameter of ≤3 cm can usually be cured by radical ablation; alcohol ablation may also achieve the same goal.

The above mainly introduces the ablation treatment method for liver cancer and its indications. It can be seen that the advantage of ablation treatment is that it is very safe and has no side effects. Generally, ablation treatment is suitable for patients with smaller liver cancer tumors. If the liver cancer tumor is too large, the effect of ablation treatment will be worse.
