What are the surgical methods for prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor with a relatively low incidence rate. The occurrence of this disease is mostly related to age and genetic factors. Once the patient is ill, surgery should be used for treatment in a timely manner. However, there are many types of surgical methods, and the specific method to be used depends on the patient's specific situation. So what are the surgical methods for prostate cancer?

1. Bilateral orchiectomy. After the testicles are removed, the source of testosterone production can be removed, thereby slowing down or regressing the growth of androgen-dependent prostate cancer. This surgical method is not only simple but also very safe, and even the side effects are very small. Most patients can achieve castration within twelve hours after the removal. However, other complications can easily occur after the operation, so other therapies need to be combined with the operation for treatment.

2. Radical prostatectomy. The scope of this radical surgery mainly includes the prostate body and prostate capsule. As long as this surgery is performed, the goal of eliminating all tumor tissues in the body can be achieved. During this surgery, the degree of tumor infiltration behind the bottom of the bladder and near the seminal vesicle can also be detected at the same time. However, generally speaking, there are relatively few patients who are suitable for this surgery.

3. Extended radical prostatectomy is mainly to perform extensive removal of local tumors in situ by using high-frequency electric knife, but at the same time as the prostate is removed, the bladder base, seminal vesicles and vas deferens, as well as the urogenital diaphragm around the membranous urethra need to be removed at the same time. This method is mainly suitable for patients with advanced prostate cancer.

The above are the common surgical methods for treating prostate cancer. After understanding these, once male friends suffer from this disease, they should not have too serious psychological burden. They should go to a regular hospital for diagnosis in time. After confirming the specific situation of the disease, they should choose appropriate surgery for treatment. Only in this way can there be good results after treatment.
