What to do if advanced lung cancer metastasizes to the brain and bones

When patients with advanced lung cancer have brain metastasis or bone metastasis, they can be treated with radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, etc. It is recommended to go to the hospital in time and choose the appropriate treatment method under the guidance of the doctor.

1. General treatment: If the tumor compresses the nerves and causes headaches, you can use ibuprofen sustained-release capsules as prescribed by the doctor to relieve the pain. If the headache is caused by increased intracranial pressure due to brain edema, you can use mannitol injection as prescribed by the doctor to reduce intracranial pressure.

2. Drug treatment

1. Radiotherapy: Radiation is used to kill cancer cells or inhibit their growth, thereby controlling the progression of the disease and prolonging survival. For small brain metastases, such as those less than 3 cm in diameter, stereotactic radiosurgery can be used for treatment;

2. Chemotherapy: Commonly used chemotherapy drugs include gefitinib tablets, erlotinib hydrochloride tablets, osimertinib mesylate tablets, etc., which are suitable for patients without obvious distant metastasis but with poor sensitivity to chemotherapy. Combination drugs can also be used under the guidance of a doctor to improve the efficacy;

3. Targeted therapy: Commonly used targeted drugs include gefitinib tablets, erlotinib hydrochloride tablets, afatinib tablets, bevacizumab injection, etc., which can be used for patients with advanced lung cancer who are positive for multiple driver genes.

Other treatments

In addition to the above treatments, immune checkpoint inhibitors can also be used. Common drugs include pembrolizumab injection, nivolumab injection, etc., which can activate the body's immune system to kill cancer cells, thereby achieving the purpose of treatment.

Traditional Chinese medicine can also be used as an auxiliary treatment to improve the patient's clinical symptoms, relieve pain, and improve the quality of life. In daily life, you should maintain a good attitude, avoid emotional excitement, pay attention to rest, and ensure adequate sleep time, which is conducive to physical recovery.
