How much is the TSH value controlled after single thyroidectomy

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. The control of TSH value after single thyroid cancer resection can generally be judged based on the degree of TSH increase. Clinically, the normal value of TSH is generally controlled at 2-10mU/L. If it is lower than 2.5mU/L, it is usually a high-risk factor for recurrence of thyroid cancer patients after surgery and needs to be taken seriously.

1. 0.5-4.0mU/L: After a single thyroidectomy, if the tumor does not recur and the thyroid hormone level remains within the normal range, the TSH value is generally controlled at 0.5-4.0mU/L;

2. 4.0-10mU/L: If a thyroid cancer patient has a tumor recurrence after surgery, and the tumor size exceeds 2.5 times the original tumor, or lymph node metastasis occurs, the TSH value may need to be controlled at 4.0-10mU/L. At this time, it should be noted that it does not mean that the tumor has recurred as long as the TSH value exceeds the normal range, but it needs to be judged according to the specific situation of the patient;

3. 3.0-5.0mU/L: If the TSH value of a thyroid cancer patient is lower than the normal range after surgery and there is no tumor recurrence, the TSH value can be controlled at 3.0-5.0mU/L.

In addition to the above factors, patients with thyroid cancer should also pay attention to whether the cancer cells have metastasized after a single resection. If the cancer cells have metastasized after surgery, iodine-131 treatment may be required. For patients with thyroid cancer, they should pay attention to regularly going to the hospital's thyroid surgery department for serum calcium, thyroglobulin, calcitonin and other tests, and should also pay attention to maintaining a good attitude and avoiding excessive stress and overwork.
