How to care for the incision after thyroid cancer surgery

The care of the surgical incision of thyroid cancer mainly includes cleaning and disinfection of the wound area, as well as diet conditioning, psychological care, etc. Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the follicular epithelium or parafollicular epithelial cells of the thyroid gland. It generally has no obvious symptoms in the early stage and is often discovered during physical examinations.

1. Cleaning and disinfection of the wound: After surgery, patients should pay attention to keeping the incision clean and hygienic, and avoid getting it wet to avoid infection. At the same time, they should also pay attention to whether the incision is red, swollen, painful, or has exudate. If any abnormality occurs, the doctor should be informed in time and targeted treatment should be carried out;

2. Diet adjustment: Patients should pay attention to a reasonable diet, mainly light food, and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, such as apples, bananas, spinach, etc., which can supplement the vitamin C needed by the body, and can also promote gastrointestinal motility and prevent constipation. However, spicy and irritating foods, such as chili peppers and pepper, should be avoided to avoid irritating the wound and affecting healing;

3. Psychological care: Since thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor, there may not be obvious discomfort symptoms in the early stage of the disease, so some patients may have anxiety and fear. Therefore, family members should comfort and encourage patients, and pay more attention to and care for patients, so that patients can maintain a positive and optimistic attitude to face the disease;

4. Other aspects: Patients should also pay attention to rest, ensure adequate sleep time, avoid staying up late, and go to the hospital for regular checkups to understand the development of the disease.
