What are the current treatments for thyroid cancer?

For thyroid cancer, current treatments mainly include surgical treatment, radionuclide therapy, endocrine therapy, targeted drug therapy, immunotherapy, etc. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor's advice for standardized treatment.

1. Surgical treatment: Surgery is the first choice for thyroid cancer. If it is early stage thyroid cancer, the tumor is small and confined to the thyroid gland, thyroid lobectomy and isthmus resection can be performed. If it is mid-to-late stage thyroid cancer, total thyroidectomy, lymph node dissection and other surgeries can be performed under the guidance of a doctor;

2. Radionuclide therapy: Radionuclide therapy can be used to treat papillary thyroid cancer and follicular carcinoma. Radionuclide can damage parafollicular cells and cause tumor cell death. However, radionuclide therapy can also cause permanent hypothyroidism. Thyroid function should be checked regularly after surgery, and drugs such as levothyroxine sodium tablets should be given for replacement therapy if necessary.

3. Endocrine therapy: Thyroxine can inhibit the secretion of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), thereby inhibiting the proliferation of thyroid tissue and differentiated cancer. Thyroid function should be tested regularly after surgery, and if necessary, levothyroxine sodium tablets and other drugs should be given for replacement therapy;

4. Targeted drug therapy: such as sorafenib tosylate tablets, which is an oral multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor that can inhibit tumor cell growth and angiogenesis, thereby reducing the risk of tumor recurrence;

5. Immunotherapy: Such as trastuzumab injection, which is a human-mouse chimeric monoclonal antibody that can specifically bind to the transmembrane antigen CD8, blocking cell surface signal transduction and thus inhibiting tumor cell growth.

In addition to the above treatment measures, psychological care is also needed to help patients understand the disease and face it optimistically and positively. At the same time, nutritional support should be strengthened to ensure a diversified diet.
