Unfavorable pathological types of thyroid cancer

Unfavorable pathological types of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a common malignant tumor with many pathological types, among which undifferentiated carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, etc. are adverse pathological types of thyroid cancer. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital for treatment in time and receive treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Undifferentiated cancer: Undifferentiated cancer is a highly malignant thyroid cancer. Because its cell morphology and tissue structure are different from those of normal thyroid tissue, it is called undifferentiated cancer. Patients with undifferentiated cancer have a poor prognosis and a short survival time.

2. Medullary carcinoma: Medullary carcinoma is a low-grade malignant thyroid cancer, but it has secretory function and can produce calcitonin and various amine substances. Medullary carcinoma is not sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Surgical resection is the main treatment method, but it is prone to recurrence;

3. Papillary carcinoma: Papillary carcinoma is a moderately malignant thyroid cancer that grows slowly and has no obvious symptoms in the early stages. When the tumor grows, symptoms such as a lump in the neck or hoarseness may occur. Papillary carcinoma is not sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and surgical resection is the main treatment method;

4. Follicular carcinoma: Follicular carcinoma is also a moderately malignant thyroid cancer, usually originating from follicular epithelial cells. There are no obvious symptoms in the early stage. As the disease progresses, symptoms such as neck lumps or dysphagia may appear. Follicular carcinoma is not sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and surgical resection is the main treatment method.

In addition to the above situations, other types of thyroid cancer such as medullary carcinoma and anaplastic carcinoma also belong to adverse pathological types of thyroid cancer. If you are diagnosed with thyroid cancer, you need to follow the doctor's advice for treatment in a timely manner.
