Is lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer considered advanced?

Gastric cancer lymph node metastasis is usually not in the late stage. Gastric cancer lymph node metastasis can be divided into three types, namely intra-lymph node metastasis, regional lymph node metastasis and distant lymph node metastasis. Patients are advised to seek medical attention in a timely manner and receive targeted treatment under the guidance of a physician.

1. Lymph node metastasis: Lymph node metastasis means that cancer cells grow only in local lymph nodes without further spread. In this case, the patient is generally in the early stage of gastric cancer. Through surgical resection and lymph node dissection, the disease can be effectively controlled and the cure rate can be improved.

2. Regional lymph node metastasis: Regional lymph node metastasis refers to the spread of cancer cells to the perigastric lymph nodes or other regional lymph nodes, but still within the local range. This situation usually corresponds to mid-stage gastric cancer. For regional lymph node metastasis, if it is discovered in time, appropriate surgical resection and lymph node dissection are taken, combined with postoperative adjuvant therapy, there is still a good treatment effect.

3. Distant lymph node metastasis: Distant lymph node metastasis refers to the spread of cancer cells to lymph nodes in other parts of the body away from the stomach through the lymphatic system. This situation usually corresponds to advanced gastric cancer, where cancer cells have spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic system, making treatment more difficult.

Lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer is not necessarily a late stage, and specific evaluation and treatment needs to be carried out according to the different conditions of the patients. For patients with early and mid-stage gastric cancer, surgical resection and lymph node dissection combined with postoperative adjuvant therapy can effectively control the disease and improve the cure rate.
