Early symptoms of pancreatic cancer

The early symptoms of pancreatic cancer are complex and varied, mainly including abdominal pain, jaundice, rapid weight loss, abnormal blood sugar and persistent indigestion.

1. Abdominal pain

Abdominal pain is the most common early symptom of pancreatic cancer. The pain is usually located in the upper abdomen, around the umbilicus, or in the right upper abdomen. It is usually colic in nature and may worsen paroxystoriously or persistently, and radiate to the lower back. The pain may be aggravated or relieved in certain body positions.

2. Jaundice

Jaundice is another prominent manifestation of early pancreatic cancer. The patient's skin and sclera may be obviously yellow, the urine may be dark brown, and the stool may become clay-colored. This is usually caused by the tumor compressing the common bile duct.

3. Rapid weight loss

Pancreatic cancer patients often experience rapid weight loss, which is the result of multiple factors such as tumor consumption, loss of appetite, digestion and absorption disorders, etc. Rapid weight loss in a short period of time should be a cause for high vigilance.

4. Abnormal blood sugar

People over 50 who have symptoms of diabetes without obvious causes should be alert to the possibility of pancreatic cancer. A sudden increase in blood sugar may be an early sign of pancreatic cancer.

5. Persistent indigestion

Persistent indigestion symptoms such as poor appetite, upper abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. may also be early manifestations of pancreatic cancer. The appearance of these symptoms may be related to impaired pancreatic function.
