What does fish test for breast cancer mean and how to do it

FISH testing usually refers to fluorescence in situ hybridization testing. Fluorescence in situ hybridization testing for breast cancer is a way to measure gene amplification, usually by testing slices of breast removed tissue, which can assist in the diagnosis of breast cancer.

If a patient has a lump in the breast and is suspected of having a malignant lesion, they can go to the hospital for surgery to remove the local lump tissue. The doctor will perform a slice test on the removed lump tissue, mainly by hybridizing the nucleic acid probe with the nucleic acid sequence of the test sample, and observing the changes in local genes according to the principle of base complementary pairing. The state of DNA amplification can be clearly observed under a microscope, and a preliminary diagnosis can be made as to whether the patient has breast cancer. If the DNA amplification is more obvious, a physical examination, breast ultrasound examination, and breast cancer tumor marker examination are required for diagnosis.

Patients diagnosed with breast cancer need to receive targeted therapy and radiotherapy under the guidance of doctors to improve symptoms and control the spread of cancer cells. They need to go to the hospital for regular checkups and adjust the treatment plan according to their physical recovery. At the same time, they should also pay attention to regular exercise to improve their body resistance.
