What are the symptoms of kidney cancer?

Kidney cancer refers to renal cell carcinoma, which is a common solid malignant tumor of the kidney, accounting for 85% of renal malignant tumors. The peak age is 50-70 years old. There are no obvious symptoms in the early stage, and 60% of kidney cancers are discovered during physical examinations or other diseases. A small number of kidney cancers will have microscopic hematuria and unexplained fever in the early stage.

Hematuria, pain in the kidney area, and abdominal masses are typical manifestations of kidney cancer. Although kidney cancer has no obvious symptoms in the early stages, varying degrees of hematuria will occur after the kidney cancer enters the renal pelvis, accompanied by cord-like blood clots. If the blood clot blocks the ureter, severe renal colic will occur. Low back pain is caused by the continued growth of the kidney cancer mass pulling on the renal capsule, and the pain is continuous. A small number of kidney cancer patients will find a mass in the abdomen, usually located under the upper abdominal rib arch, and may move up and down with breathing movements. But in the late stages of kidney cancer, when the tumor invades the organs or muscles around the kidneys, the mass will be completely fixed.

10-20% of kidney cancer patients often have fever, high blood pressure and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. 30% of patients first seek medical attention due to symptoms of metastatic tumors. Manifestations include pain at the site of bone metastasis, persistent cough, hemoptysis, etc. When these symptoms appear in the body, we must go to the hospital for relevant examinations to eliminate the possibility of kidney cancer. Kidney cancer can be cured with early treatment, so early detection is very important.
