There are three main sites where esophageal cancer is prone to metastasis.

Esophageal cancer generally refers to esophageal cancer. The main sites where esophageal cancer is prone to metastasis are lymph nodes, lungs, and liver.

1. Lymph nodes: In the early stages, esophageal cancer mainly metastasizes through the lymph nodes around the esophagus, but the metastasis sites of esophageal cancer in different parts will be different. Upper esophageal cancer generally metastasizes to the upper mediastinal lymph nodes or cervical lymph nodes; middle esophageal cancer mainly metastasizes to the hilar or paraesophageal lymph nodes; lower esophageal cancer mainly metastasizes to the upper abdominal cavity, cardia, paraesophageal lymph nodes, etc.

2. Lungs: Since the distance between the esophagus and the lungs is relatively close, esophageal cancer can metastasize to the lungs through blood vessels. If an imaging examination is performed at this time, circular peripheral lesions with uniform density, different sizes, and clear contours can generally be observed, and the patient may cough, spit up blood, etc.

3. Liver: Esophageal cancer is more likely to metastasize to blood vessels, and cancer cells may metastasize to the liver through the blood. At this time, the patient's liver may have hidden pain symptoms. As cancer cells continue to spread in the liver, the patient may experience weight loss, fatigue and other discomforts.

After suffering from esophageal cancer, if surgical resection is performed in the early stage, the development of the disease can be better suppressed. Therefore, after the disease is discovered, it is necessary to cooperate with the doctor for treatment as soon as possible.
