How long can you live after surgery for advanced gastric cancer

How long can you live after surgery for advanced gastric cancer?

1. There is no way to cure the late stage patients, and they can only be treated with painkillers. Patients should pay attention to eating 6-7 small meals a day, and should eat liquid or semi-liquid soft food. They should also maintain a balanced nutrition and a regular life.

2. Patients with advanced gastric cancer may have multiple metastases and spreads. They may suffer from malnutrition, anemia, etc. The prognosis is not ideal, and the life expectancy of most patients does not exceed 1 year. Advanced gastric cancer may be accompanied by metastasis to distant organs, including liver metastasis and lung metastasis, which are relatively common. Most advanced gastric cancers are not suitable for surgery.

What are the clinical manifestations of gastric cancer?

Most patients with early gastric cancer do not have obvious symptoms. A few have nausea, vomiting, or upper gastrointestinal symptoms similar to ulcer disease, which are difficult to attract enough attention. However, as the tumor grows and affects gastric function, more obvious symptoms will appear, but they lack specificity. Pain and weight loss are the most common clinical manifestations of advanced gastric cancer.

In addition to the more obvious symptoms mentioned above, advanced gastric cancer may also present with persistent worsening of epigastric pain, diarrhea, obstruction, gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation.

The clinical manifestations of gastric cancer mainly include the following aspects: abdominal distension, which is mainly due to gastric tumors stimulating the smooth muscles of the gastric wall, causing the smooth muscles to contract weakly, thereby delaying or weakening gastric emptying and producing abdominal distension symptoms.
