How to self-check for breast cancer

How to self-check for breast cancer?

1. Breastfeeding women can observe the symmetry of the breasts from the outside to the inside, local lumps and ulcers, and nipple exudation. If the appearance is normal, the index finger, middle finger, and ring finger can be used to touch the nipple in order from the outside to the inside and from top to bottom. If a lump is touched, the size and movement should be noted. If nipple exudation is detected, the nature and color of the liquid must be noted, and go to the hospital for treatment and improve B-ultrasound examination in time.

2. Clinically, some patients find small nodules on their breasts at home or in the shower. When they go to the hospital to see a doctor, they should first face the mirror to see the size and shape, outline and color of the breasts on both sides, and whether the nipples are raised, retracted and overflowing.

3. For self-diagnosis of breast malignancies, self-examination should be considered more. For female patients, it is generally necessary to expose the patient's chest in front of a mirror and then observe whether the shape of the breast has changed, whether the local skin is sunken, and whether the local skin is rough.

What targeted therapies are available for breast cancer?

Currently, the main targeted therapeutic drugs for breast cancer are trastuzumab and lapatinib, which are suitable for patients with strong HER-2 receptor positive breast cancer. Patients with advanced breast cancer need to cooperate with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted drug therapy, endocrine therapy, etc. to control the disease, alleviate symptoms and prolong life.

Through active treatment, the five-year survival rate of patients with advanced breast cancer is about 60%. There are many drugs for targeted treatment of breast cancer, including Herceptin, Lapatinib, mixed preparations and some newer drugs that are not on the market.
