How to treat ovarian tumors

How to treat ovarian tumors?

1. If the test results are inclined to malignant tumors, timely laparotomy is required, frozen pathology is used to confirm the diagnosis during the operation, and the scope of the operation is expanded if necessary. Postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy are required. If the tumor is found to invade the entire ovarian tissue and there is no normal ovarian tissue during the operation, the entire ovary needs to be removed if necessary.

2. If there is an ovarian tumor, blood tests are required for tumor markers, such as cA125, AFP, etc., combined with pelvic MRI to comprehensively analyze the nature of the tumor. If the test results tend to be benign, minimally invasive surgery can be performed to remove the tumor.

Symptoms of benign ovarian tumors

When the tumor is relatively small, there are no obvious symptoms and it is often discovered accidentally during B-ultrasound examination.

The symptoms include:

The first is a feeling of heaviness or fullness in the abdomen.

The second is pain in the pelvic area.

The third is pain during sexual intercourse.

The fourth is compression symptoms, such as frequent urination, constipation, shortness of breath, palpitations, etc.

When the tumor is relatively large and is not treated promptly and effectively, the following complications may occur: The first is pedicle torsion, which often occurs when the body position changes suddenly, or when the size of the uterus changes during pregnancy or the postpartum period. It manifests as sudden pelvic pain, nausea, vomiting, and even shock. Once diagnosed, surgery is required immediately. The second is tumor rupture. Symptoms caused by tumor rupture often include severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, etc. The larger the tumor, the higher the risk of rupture. The third is infection, which is often secondary to torsion and rupture.
