What is the cure rate of breast cancer

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the epithelial tissue of the breast. The breast is not an important organ for maintaining human life activities. In situ breast cancer is not fatal; however, because breast cancer cells have lost the characteristics of normal cells, the connection between cells is loose and easy to fall off. Once the cancer cells fall off, the free cancer cells can spread throughout the body with the blood or lymph, forming metastasis and endangering life. The cure rate of breast cancer is related to the installment of breast cancer. The cure rate in the early stage is more than 90%, the cure rate in the middle stage is about 60%, and the cure rate in the middle and late stages is between 20%-30%. The cure rate for patients with severe breast cancer is as low as 15%.

Is the recurrence rate high after breast cancer resection?

The probability of recurrence and metastasis of early breast cancer is generally lower than that of breast cancer after surgery in the late stage or locally advanced stage. Because breast cancer is prone to recurrence and metastasis, the treatment of breast cancer does not adopt a single treatment method. In addition to surgical treatment, it also includes chemotherapy, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy. The comprehensive application of the above methods can improve the diagnosis and treatment effects of breast cancer, thereby reducing the recurrence and metastasis of breast cancer. If breast cancer patients still have recurrence and metastasis after comprehensive treatment, it may be related to their biological behavior, poor treatment response, poor prognosis, and no better treatment method.

Is it necessary to completely remove breast cancer?

Breast cancer surgery involves the breast and axillary lymph nodes. Breast surgery includes breast-conserving surgery and total mastectomy, which have similar efficacy. Axillary lymph node surgery includes sentinel lymph node biopsy and axillary lymph node cleaning. Currently, breast cancer patients can undergo breast conservation surgery, but the clinical technology has not yet been realized. For patients who are not suitable for breast conservation, total mastectomy should be performed. The extent of mastectomy depends on the size, nature, degree of spread of the tumor, and the patient's wishes. Regardless of the surgical method chosen, the principles of radical cure, preservation of function, and appearance should be strictly followed.
