Why do you get teratoma

Why do you get teratoma

Teratoma is a common germ cell tumor that originates from the primordial germ cells of the embryonic gland. Patients may suffer from teratoma due to genetic factors, abnormal embryonic development, chromosomal abnormalities, external factors, germ cell abnormalities, etc.

1. Genetic factors:

Teratomas can be congenital, due to some genetic mutation or defect during embryonic development, which causes the embryonic cells to mutate. In this case, the same case may appear in the patient's family.

2. Abnormal embryonic development:

During embryonic development, if certain tissues or organs are abnormal, the cells in that area may lose their normal cell functions, then grow and differentiate abnormally, and form teratomas. This situation may be related to some gene mutations and environmental factors.

3. Chromosomal abnormalities:

Some teratoma patients have chromosomal abnormalities, such as trisomy 21 syndrome, which can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation and thus the formation of teratoma.

4. External factors:

In the process of individual teratoma occurrence, external environmental factors may also have a certain impact. For example, the influence of external factors such as radiation can trigger gene mutations and promote the occurrence of teratoma. Improper medical surgery may also cause teratoma to fall off and spread to other parts, further leading to the formation of multiple teratomas.

5. Germ cell abnormalities:

If the germ cells are abnormal in the complex growth, differentiation and maturation process, a teratoma may be formed. Patients can determine whether the teratoma is benign or malignant based on the maturity of the cells in the teratoma. If most of them are differentiated and mature, it is benign, otherwise it is malignant.

Mature teratomas have the risk of malignant changes, and immature teratomas themselves are malignant tumors that seriously threaten women's lives and health. If a patient accidentally finds a lump in the abdomen, or finds an ovarian teratoma during a physical examination, they need to go to the hospital as soon as possible for a clear diagnosis.
