Why does the upper body sweat easily?

What causes children to sweat while sleeping?

Children sweat when they sleep at night, which is mainly related to their physical constitution. Compared with adults, children's skin contains more water, has more blood vessels on the surface of the skin, and has a more active metabolism. Therefore, they will sweat profusely when they are very active. Secondly, the secretory activity of sweat glands is affected by neural activity, and the temperature regulation center of children is not yet fully developed, so their ability to self-regulate cold and heat is weak. Therefore, when children just fall asleep, they are prone to sweating because their brain nerves are still in an excited state. This type of sweating often occurs within half an hour after the baby falls asleep, and the sweating is mostly concentrated on the head. It usually stops slowly within 2 hours after falling asleep and gradually disappears with age. This is normal, so parents don't need to worry too much.

However, if a child sweats profusely while sleeping, or even sweats all night long, and is accompanied by symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, and restless sleep, this means that there is a problem with his body and it is one of the symptoms caused by illness. At this time, parents should take their children to the hospital for relevant examinations in time. They must not act on their own and give their children heat-clearing drugs or blindly take tonics.

What to do if your child sweats while sleeping?

1. Stuff a small towel. Parents can put a dry, soft towel or handkerchief behind their children's backs and necks before they go to bed. If the towel or handkerchief becomes wet with sweat, replace it with a new one in time until the sweating stops. Doing so can not only ensure that the child's back and neck remain dry, but also prevent him from catching a cold after sweating.

2. Don’t cover it too thickly. Children have a more active metabolism and are prone to sweating. If parents dress their children too thickly or cover them too tightly, the sweating will be more serious. Therefore, even in winter, it is not advisable to dress children too thickly or cover them too thickly. They should be dressed the same as adults.

3. Drink more warm water or soup. Children who sweat more lose more water in their bodies, so they need to replenish water in time to avoid dehydration.

4. Take a bath frequently. Bathe your child frequently to keep his skin clean. Apply talcum powder to areas where he sweats more, such as the neck, back, and armpits, to keep the skin dry.

In addition, if a child sweats profusely while sleeping, or even sweats all night long, and is accompanied by symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, and restless sleep, this means that there is a problem with his body, which may be caused by illness. At this time, parents should take their children to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible to prevent the condition from worsening.
