What should be paid attention to in the diet of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients after chemotherapy? What are the dietary taboos?

1. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, radiotherapy is a kind of heat evil acting on the human body, causing excessive heat toxins and damaging natural gas consumption. The so-called heat evil invasion, internal and external heat toxins, combined, burning natural gas, damaging the positive energy, leading to qi and yin deficiency, local lack of body fluids, and clinically often manifested as dry mouth, dry sore throat, dysphagia and other yin deficiency internal heat.

2. For symptoms such as dry mouth, thirst, sore throat, and difficulty swallowing caused by oral mucosal damage after radiotherapy, the diet after nasopharyngeal carcinoma chemotherapy should first pay attention to oral hygiene and gargle with saline or Dobe solution to improve symptoms.

3. In terms of diet, appropriately increase the intake of yin-nourishing and dry foods such as sugarcane juice, pear juice, chestnut juice, watermelon juice, lotus juice, strawberry juice, orange juice, etc. to ensure comprehensive nutrition and improve adverse reactions after radiotherapy.

4. For patients with pharyngeal mucosal congestion and edema and dysphagia caused by radiotherapy, according to the patient's swallowing condition, they should eat a light, low-fat liquid diet after nasopharyngeal cancer chemotherapy, such as milk, lotus powder, protein powder, batter, broken noodles, etc., or a uniform slurry diet to make the food soft and easy to digest and absorb.

What are the dietary taboos for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

1. Do not eat high-iodine foods. If nasopharyngeal cancer patients eat seafood, such as crabs, shrimps, scaleless fish, kelp, etc., including iodine foods and iodized salt, the tumor will rupture. Iodine is widely present in seawater. Iodine can promote the dissolution of soft tissues, has a phlegm-resolving effect, and is beneficial to benign tumors and vascular sclerosis. But for hemorrhagic diseases and cancer, it has always been taboo.

2. Do not eat spicy food, and do not add these seasonings when cooking. For example: pepper, ginger, pepper, onion, garlic, etc. Spicy hair can easily cause blood heat.

The condition of some cancer patients is always out of control because the food they eat at home, in restaurants, and on the street all contains spicy ingredients.
