Nasal malignant melanoma is a rare but highly malignant tumor. Symptoms include persistent nasal congestion, nose bleeding, unexplained nasal swelling or pain, and in severe cases, blurred vision or numbness of the surrounding face. Early symptoms can be easily mistaken for common rhinitis or sinusitis, so it is necessary to seek medical attention as soon as possible and make a clear diagnosis. Symptoms of malignant melanoma of the nasal cavity are usually hidden, but as the disease progresses, patients may experience persistent nasal or sinus obstruction, often unilaterally, which is difficult to relieve even with conventional drug treatment. Unexplained nose bleeding is also common, and the amount of blood may range from mild drips to larger amounts. Tumor compression of nerves or tissues can cause swelling and pain in the nose and face, and some patients may have headaches or increased odor secretions. If the tumor invades the orbital area, the patient may experience decreased vision, bulging eyes, and even symptoms such as loss of vision or facial numbness in the late stage, indicating that the tumor may have spread to surrounding tissues. As the tumor grows, the appearance may become deformed. In terms of treatment, timely diagnosis and intervention are crucial. Surgical resection is the main treatment method, and partial or total nasal resection is required according to the scope of the lesion. Postoperative radiotherapy can reduce the chance of local recurrence, and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy and other methods are recommended. In terms of drug treatment, targeted therapy or immune checkpoint inhibitors (such as PD-1 inhibitors) show certain efficacy in advanced or metastatic cases. After surgery, patients should consume more foods containing antioxidants, such as blueberries, carrots, etc., to help recovery, while maintaining a regular lifestyle. If you or someone around you experiences the above symptoms, even if it is just mild nasal congestion or bleeding, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible to identify the cause and develop a treatment plan to achieve the best treatment effect. |
