Causes of cutaneous fibroma

Causes of cutaneous fibroma

Dermatofibroma is usually caused by the proliferation of fibrous tissue inside the skin. It is a benign proliferative lesion. If you find similar symptoms, you should seek medical attention in time for a clear diagnosis.

This type of fibroma is more common in adults. The specific cause of its formation is not yet fully understood, but it may be related to repeated skin irritation, trauma, inflammatory response or genetic factors. For example, excessive scratching after a small mosquito bite or skin trauma left by an injection may induce abnormal proliferation of local fibrous tissue. Some experts also speculate that an imbalance in the body's immune function or genetic mutation may also play a role in promoting it.

Fibroids usually appear as small hard nodules, ranging in color from skin to brown, which feel firm to the touch and do not cause obvious pain. They generally do not have the characteristics of malignant transformation and do not invade surrounding tissues. In daily life, you may find that these nodules are more obvious when the skin is cold, or they may be slightly concave when pressed by hand, but return to their original shape after release - this is a more typical manifestation, also known as the "button sign".

Avoiding frequent skin injuries on a daily basis is an important means of prevention, such as avoiding excessive scratching of mosquito bites, choosing mild skin care products, and reducing chemical irritation. If a suspected skin fibroma lesion has been found, it is not recommended to squeeze or prick it yourself to avoid the risk of infection. Usually, if the fibroma does not affect the appearance or life, it can be observed regularly by a dermatologist; if it grows larger or feels uncomfortable, seek medical attention in time to assess whether it needs to be removed.
