Does MRI hurt? Does MRI hurt?

With the continuous advancement of medical technology, nuclear magnetic resonance has been widely used in medical treatment. Compared with traditional examination methods, the clarity of nuclear magnetic resonance is greatly improved, and diseases can be detected more clearly. For doctors and patients, it is very useful, but most people do not know much about magnetic resonance. Some people think that magnetic resonance is very painful. Does it hurt to do magnetic resonance?

Is an MRI painful?

The principle of MRI examination is very professional, so it is difficult for ordinary people to understand. To put it simply, when the patient is undergoing the examination, the MRI machine will form a very strong magnetic field, and the hydrogen atoms in the body will receive the signals emitted by the magnetic field and then process them to form an image. Because of its clearer imaging characteristics, MRI examinations are generally used for more accurate diagnosis of the brain and other organs of the body.

However, MRI scans are not painful and are harmless to the body. The reason why many patients are afraid of MRI is that there are many precautions before the examination. For example, all metal objects on the body must be removed before the examination, and they cannot move during the entire examination. Another thing is that the machine makes a lot of noise during the examination, and it is inevitable that it will be boring to remain still for a long time in a relatively closed and narrow space, and some patients may even panic. Especially for patients with claustrophobia, it is best to take oral sedatives before the examination to help the examination go smoothly.

Although MRI is a green and safe examination, many patients are not suitable for this examination, and it is even absolutely prohibited. For example, patients with pacemakers or metal objects implanted in their bodies, such as metal clips or stents, cannot undergo magnetic resonance imaging examinations. In addition, patients with cochlear implants and pregnant women who are less than 3 months pregnant are not suitable for this examination.
