The dangers of wearing contact lenses

Everyone knows about contact lenses, which are commonly known as corneal contact lenses. Many people now wear contact lenses, which are completely invisible from the outside. This is probably why people wear contact lenses. Contact lenses can adjust myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and other conditions, and can correct vision. Who knows the harm of wearing contact lenses?

Contact lenses can bring great convenience to people. For example, ordinary glasses will feel uncomfortable when doing some strenuous exercise, and the lenses can easily break. Contact lenses are in direct contact with the cornea, so these adverse effects will not occur. However, there are risks of wearing contact lenses. Let me introduce a few points below.

1. The "discomfort" is strong when you wear it for the first time, and it takes about a week to get used to it. Moreover, the unit price is relatively high, and it is not easy to get it in ordinary eyewear stores.

2. Complications caused by contact lenses: eye sensitivity, dry eyes, keratitis, and conjunctivitis.

3. If the degree of myopia increases within a short period of time after wearing glasses, you should dilate your pupil and recheck the light level.

4. Acute congestion: The cause may be acute eye infection, acute hypoxia caused by wearing lenses overnight, allergic reaction to care solution, lens contamination, corneal epithelial abrasion caused by foreign matter, etc. This disease usually occurs in one eye. If the congestion is moderate to severe and accompanied by pain, photophobia, tearing, and blurred vision, the possibility of acute keratitis or corneal injury should be considered. In this case, you should remove the lenses immediately and seek medical attention.

5. Chronic congestion: It is mainly manifested by mild congestion of the conjunctiva at the corneal margin or the inner and outer canthus. The possible causes are dry eyes, bad blinking habits, and chronic hypoxia caused by old lenses.

6. There is a very thin lipid layer covering the surface of normal tears, which prevents the tears from evaporating too quickly. After wearing contact lenses, because the lens material will compete with tears for water, this lipid layer will not be as stably attached to the tear surface as before, and the evaporation of tears will naturally accelerate.

Knowing the dangers of wearing contact lenses, when wearing them, you must go to a regular hospital, choose suitable contact lenses for yourself, and pay attention to eye protection at ordinary times. If any discomfort occurs during wearing, go to the hospital for treatment. Contact lenses should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to prevent germs from entering the eyes.
