Excessive saliva secretion

Excessive saliva secretion

Many people always drool when they sleep, and some serious cases can even wet half of the pillow. In fact, this is all due to excessive saliva secretion. However, most people feel that this is not a disease when faced with this situation. In fact, if the saliva secretion is excessive, it is likely caused by some diseases, such as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, etc., which are diseases that cause excessive saliva secretion.

However, most of our friends have excessive saliva secretion in their daily lives, which is most likely caused by excessive psychological pressure. In this case, you only need to adjust your mentality reasonably to solve the problem of excessive saliva secretion.

There are many reasons for excessive salivation, which can be generally divided into true and false excessive salivation. The main reasons for excessive saliva secretion are: stomatitis, pharyngitis, glossitis, gingivitis and other oral diseases. It is recommended to see a stomatologist.

The main causes of true excessive salivation are: oral diseases such as stomatitis, pharyngitis, glossitis, gingivitis, and irritation caused by ill-fitting dentures; drug poisoning or irritation such as mercury, lead, iodine, arsenic and nicotine; neuropsychiatric diseases such as encephalitis, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, Parkinson's syndrome, autonomic nervous system dysfunction; endocrine system diseases such as sudden goiter and diabetes, etc.

False hypersalivation is caused by obstruction of the saliva flow in the mouth. The main reasons are: esophageal stenosis, tumors, scars, etc. causing obstruction of the passage; swallowing nerve paralysis caused by surgery in the mouth, throat and other parts, making it difficult to swallow saliva smoothly; nerve, lingual nerve and mandibular motor dysfunction; salivary gland atrophy in the elderly, and excessive drug-induced saliva secretion due to medication.

Therefore, if you often have excessive saliva secretion, you might as well get a check-up to see if you have any hidden diseases in your body. If it is just a common inflammation, it is easy to treat. To reduce the occurrence of excessive saliva secretion, you can eat less sweets when grading and ensure adequate sleep, which can also prevent excessive saliva secretion.
