How syphilis is transmitted

When it comes to infectious diseases, I believe many people will stay away from them for fear that they will be infected. So, have you heard of syphilis? Syphilis is a very serious infectious disease that can be transmitted through shaking hands, kissing, gynecological examination or skin damage of syphilis patients. If a pregnant woman has syphilis, it will have a great impact on the fetus. The shorter the course of the disease, the greater the chance of infection.

How syphilis is transmitted

What are the transmission routes of syphilis? Where is it mainly manifested? Many friends may want to know more about syphilis. Only by understanding the relevant knowledge of syphilis can we be prepared for the invasion of syphilis in time. Syphilis is mainly transmitted through the following routes:

(1) Direct sexual contact: About 95-98% of syphilis patients are infected in this way.

(2) Indirect contact transmission: People who live with syphilis patients may come into contact with the patients' used underwear, underpants, bedding, towels, razors, bath towels, bathtubs, toilets, etc. These items may be contaminated with syphilis spirochetes excreted from the patients' lesions, thus causing infection.

(3) Prenatal syphilis: If a woman with syphilis is not treated, the Treponema pallidum in the mother's body can be transferred to the fetus through the blood circulation after she becomes pregnant, causing the fetus to be infected with syphilis.

(4) Blood-borne transmission: If the blood donor is a patient with latent syphilis, the blood he or she provides may contain Treponema pallidum. Once transfused into the body of a recipient, infection can occur. Such patients will not show symptoms of primary syphilis, but will directly develop symptoms of secondary syphilis. Therefore, it is very important to conduct serological screening for syphilis on blood donors.

The above are the four transmission routes of syphilis. Syphilis is a highly contagious infectious disease. When in contact with patients with syphilis, you must take good protection, especially the family members of syphilis patients and friends with syphilis. You must have a positive and optimistic attitude to face the virus, believe in advanced medical equipment and doctors, and everything will be fine.
