How is booger formed

No matter what kind of environment you are in, everyone will have boogers. Even if the environment is very clean, there will always be some boogers. In movies and TV dramas, some characters like to pick their noses. Picking the nose gives people a very impolite impression, and the behavior of picking the nose is very harmful to the nose, because it is easy to break the nose hair in the process of picking the nose.

Generally speaking, it is not recommended to use your fingers to pick your nose to clean it. This is mainly because picking your nose can easily damage the mucous membrane inside the nose, causing nasal infection. In severe cases, it may even cause rhinitis. So don't pick your nose if you can.

Boogers are formed by the coagulation of nasal secretions. Therefore, it will occur even if you are not sick, but when you are sick, there will be more nasal secretions and more nasal mucus will be formed. There are some hair follicles at the entrance of the nostrils, which usually secrete some secretions to lubricate and protect the inside of the nose. When the secretions dry up, they become what we call nasal mucus. At this time, if you inhale unclean air (such as dust, etc.), the color of the nasal mucus will become dark.

One of the functions of the human nasal cavity is to secrete a large amount of mucus to moisten the dry air inhaled. These mucus are secreted by the mucous glands distributed on the nasal mucosa. A normal person secretes 500-1000 ml of mucus in 24 hours. When you have a cold, the mucous membrane becomes congested, so the secretion of the mucous glands also increases accordingly. Nasal mucus is a combination of a large amount of dust inhaled into the nasal cavity and nasal mucus. For example, coal miners' boogers are usually black.

You can wash your nose to remove nasal mucus. The water used for washing your nose should be warm salt water with a concentration of about 0.9% iodine-free salt, which is the same concentration as normal saline. Pour the saline solution into the neti pot to rinse your nasal cavity. Its functions include softening the nasal mucus and eventually cleaning the nasal passages; removing harmful substances from the nasal cavity; gradually alleviating nasal inflammation and fundamentally reducing the amount of nasal mucus produced.

Some people like to use tissues to clean their noses. This method is better than picking it with fingers, but this method can only clean a small part of the nose. It cannot clean it completely, and the tissue can easily damage some mucous membranes inside the nose. So the best way to clean your nose is to wash it.
