How to provide first aid after getting drunk at a party

When friends gather together, it is inevitable to raise a glass to liven up the atmosphere. But if you drink too much or even get alcohol poisoning, what should you do?

First, for those who are mildly drunk, vomiting can be used to reduce the absorption of alcohol. Use chopsticks or the handle of a spoon to press down on the root of the tongue, directly stimulating the patient's pharynx to cause vomiting of stomach contents. Be careful not to use too much force to avoid damaging the pharyngeal mucosa. It is not necessary for those who have already vomited.

Secondly, the patient should rest in the side-lying position to avoid vomitus blocking the airway and causing suffocation when lying flat. Generally, drunk people cannot stand or sit steadily. Once they fall, they may suffer fractures, soft tissue contusions, tooth injuries, head trauma, etc. Therefore, the side-lying position is best, and the patient's comfort should be taken into consideration, regardless of left or right posture. At the same time, the abdomen should be protected with clothing to keep warm. In addition, drinking on an empty stomach can cause hypoglycemia, so you can supplement with sugar water in moderation.

Finally, for severely drunk people, if they still have a rapid pulse, slowed breathing, cold and clammy skin, irritability, or convulsions, or incontinence after resting in bed, they should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately. Before that, you should still maintain a side-lying position and clean up vomit in your mouth in time to avoid suffocation; if convulsions occur, you can roll up a towel and place it between your upper and lower teeth to avoid biting your tongue, but be careful not to affect your breathing.
