How to preserve tea

How to preserve tea

Mr. Wang, a citizen, recently reported that the green tea he just bought at a tea shop tasted good at first, but after not long he felt that the taste was not as good as before. What was the reason? He went to the tea shop to inquire and found out that it was caused by his improper storage method. So what are the precautions for preserving tea in daily life?

Tea should avoid high temperature:

The most suitable storage temperature for tea is between zero and five degrees. If the temperature is too high, the sugars, amino acids, vitamins and aromatic substances in the tea will be decomposed and destroyed, thus reducing the quality and aroma of the tea.

Tea should be kept away from sunlight:

If tea leaves are exposed to sunlight for a long time, it will promote the oxidation of tea pigments and ester substances, causing tea chlorophyll to decompose into pheophytin. Tea leaves cannot be stored in glass containers, because when stored in glass containers or transparent plastic bags and exposed to sunlight, the substances inside will react chemically and deteriorate the quality of the green tea leaves.

Tea leaves cannot be exposed to oxygen for a long time:

The chlorophyll, vitamin C, esters, aldehydes and other compounds in tea are easily combined with oxygen in the air. The oxidized green tea leaves will make the color of the tea soup red and darker, greatly reducing its nutritional value.

The space where tea leaves are stored should not be too humid:

Because tea is a loose, porous, hydrophilic substance, it has a strong ability to absorb moisture. When storing tea, the humidity should be around 60%. If it exceeds 70%, it will easily become moldy and acidic due to moisture absorption.

In hot summer, tea containers should be placed in a cool place.
