Why does my stomach growl with hunger

I believe everyone has experienced the situation where their stomach growls when they are hungry. I believe everyone is not afraid of such symptoms because we often encounter such situations. Our stomach growls when we are hungry and it will not threaten our health. So you don’t need to worry too much. However, we need to figure out what causes our stomach to growl when we are hungry.

Why do you feel hungry? This is the feeling of the nerve center. We eat every day, and the food we eat is usually emptied from the stomach after about 4-5 hours. At this time, the stomach will begin to contract violently. The time it takes to empty your stomach is closely related to the composition of the food. If it is purely sugar food, it will generally be emptied in about 2 hours. Protein food takes about 3-4 hours, and pure fat food takes about 5-6 hours. Therefore, the average for mixed food is 4-5 hours.

The rate of gastric emptying is also proportional to the amount of food eaten. If there are 100 ml of chyme in the stomach, about 5 ml will be discharged per minute. When the chyme capacity in the stomach reaches 500 ml, 15 ml can be discharged per minute.

After the stomach's contents are emptied, the stomach begins to contract. This is a relatively violent contraction that starts from the cardia and moves toward the pylorus. This contraction makes you feel hungry; a signal that it is time to eat.

We know that at any given time, there is always a certain amount of liquid and gas in the stomach. The liquid is generally gastric digestive juice secreted by the gastric mucosa, and the amount is not too much. Gas is usually swallowed along with food when eating. In this way, the liquid and gas in the stomach will be squeezed and kneaded, running around when the stomach wall contracts violently, just like when we wash clothes, if there is a certain amount of air in the clothes, when we rub them in the water, a gurgling sound will appear. These two situations are based on the same principle.

In the above article, we introduced a common situation, that is, the stomach will growl when you are hungry. In fact, this symptom is very normal. Above we analyzed in detail the reasons why the stomach growls when you are hungry.
