Chestnut-shaped nodules in the lungs

Chestnut-shaped nodules in the lungs

Lungs are very important to our body, but some people may develop lung nodules due to bacterial infection. Lung nodules are divided into many types. Some patients may develop a large nodule in their lungs, and some patients may develop some chestnut-shaped nodules. Such nodules look particularly small and dense. So what are chestnut-shaped nodules in the lungs?

Lung CT shows chestnut-like nodules, which are dense and diffusely distributed, similar to chestnut grains. Imaging can make a preliminary diagnosis based on the size, density, and distribution characteristics of the nodules, and a comprehensive diagnosis can be made based on clinical symptoms and laboratory tests. Milligranular nodules in the lungs may be seen in the following situations:

1. Hematogenous tuberculosis: also known as type I pulmonary tuberculosis, the nodules are randomly distributed in the pulmonary lobules, interlobular septa, and subpleural space, and spread into the lungs through the blood, forming "three uniform" lesions, i.e. uniform size, density, and distribution;

2. Nontuberculous mycobacterial disease (NTM);

3. Tumor metastasis to the lungs.

The current results do not rule out the possibility of tuberculosis. If the situation you described is true, it cannot be ruled out that there may be infection, so you still need to go to the hospital for further examination in time to get a clearer picture. Then consider this one which is more contagious. After timely inspection, targeted investigation is required

My friend's CT scan showed chestnut-shaped nodules in the right lung, which must be pulmonary tuberculosis. Pulmonary tuberculosis is transmitted by inhaling air droplets containing tuberculosis bacteria, and can also be transmitted through the digestive tract to cause digestive tuberculosis. Your condition is not a manifestation of tuberculosis.
