How to avoid bacterial mumps

How to avoid bacterial mumps

People in today's society are very prone to illness, and most of the diseases are common. Because they are common, people do not pay enough attention to them, which often leads to worsening of the disease. Bacterial mumps is also a common disease, and sometimes patients don’t even know how they contracted the disease. Therefore, it is necessary for people to know the causes of bacterial mumps and how to prevent it. Here is some relevant knowledge.

Causes

1. Infectivity

Acute bacterial mumps: caused by bacterial infection, mainly Staphylococcus aureus, followed by Streptococcus. Common causes include parotid gland hyposecretion, parotid duct obstruction, parotid lymphadenitis, and inflammation of adjacent tissues.

Viral mumps: The most common mumps virus is the mumps virus, but herpes simplex virus, coxsackie virus, influenza A virus, etc. can also be seen. Mumps virus infection is the most common cause of mumps.

2. Immune: Diseases such as Sjögren's syndrome and Mikulicz's disease can cause chronic autoimmune mumps.

3. Blockage: Blockage of the main parotid duct and its branches leads to bacterial infection, most commonly salivary gland stones, mucus plugs and less commonly tumors, most of which are benign tumors.

4. The cause is unknown: chronic nonspecific parotitis, recurrent childhood parotitis, degenerative sialadenopathy, etc. are rarely caused by certain drugs.

prevention

1. Suppurative parotitis

Maintaining oral hygiene is an important part of preventing its occurrence. Some patients with weak constitution, long-term bed rest, high fever or fasting may often suffer from dehydration. They should strengthen oral care (such as brushing teeth carefully, gargling with chlorhexidine solution frequently, etc.), maintain fluid balance, and strengthen nutrition and anti-infection treatment.

2. Mumps

(1) Manage the source of infection and isolate the patient early until the parotid swelling completely subsides. Contact persons generally do not need to be quarantined, but they should be kept in collective children's institutions, military units, etc. for three weeks, and suspicious persons should be immediately temporarily isolated.

(2) Cut off the transmission route by ventilating and drying blankets frequently.

(3) Protecting susceptible populations from passive immunization: High-priced mumps immunoglobulin has a certain effect, but it is difficult to obtain and promote. The preventive effect of general globulin on this disease is questionable. Active immunization: Currently, the measles, mumps and rubella triple vaccine has a good immune effect and is included in the national immunization program. The initial vaccination targets are 1 dose each at 8 months of age and 18 to 24 months of age, via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

The incidence of bacterial mumps is very high, but as long as prevention work is done well, the problem is not serious. In addition, the patient's physical strength should be improved and they should exercise every day. That way, their physical fitness will be better and diseases will be kept away.
