What are the symptoms of subclavian artery stenosis

What are the symptoms of subclavian artery stenosis

Speaking of subclavian artery stenosis, many friends may know this disease, which is not surprising. After all, subclavian artery stenosis is not common in our lives, but friends with various arteritis must pay attention to subclavian artery stenosis. You must know that arteritis is the most common factor leading to subclavian artery stenosis. So if you suffer from arteritis, it is recommended that you understand the symptoms of subclavian artery stenosis so that you can observe whether your body suffers from subclavian artery stenosis.

symptom

1. The most common symptom of patients with subclavian artery stenosis is transient ischemic attack, which manifests as sudden dizziness, weakness or numbness of one side of the face or limbs, or difficulty speaking for a short period of time, blacking out of the eyes (often transient monocular blackness), or transient loss of consciousness, amnesia, etc.

2. Subclavian artery stenosis should be suspected in patients with sudden onset of limb numbness, weakness, visual impairment, partial hemiplegia and sensory impairment of unknown cause, as well as sequelae of previous stroke. Patients who have a carotid bruit during physical examination but are asymptomatic should also be considered to have subclavian artery stenosis.

3. Mild subclavian artery stenosis generally has no obvious clinical symptoms, but when the stenosis reaches a certain degree, corresponding clinical manifestations will appear due to insufficient blood supply or the detachment of tiny plaques or blood clots.

4. Suddenly, the pen, chopsticks, etc. in the hand fell, drooling unconsciously or suddenly becoming dazed while talking, suddenly blacking out accompanied by dizziness, wetting the pants unconsciously, lack of energy and yawning, etc. These are collectively referred to as transient ischemic attacks (commonly known as mini-strokes) in medicine. Symptoms can recur, ranging from once every few weeks to several years to multiple times a day. As for the specific manifestations, they are related to the specific vascular branches of the lesion.

5. If the above symptoms occur but are not given enough attention and are not diagnosed and treated in time, the severity of carotid artery stenosis will eventually cause persistent cerebral ischemia. Even more serious is sudden fainting and unconsciousness, accompanied by facial paralysis, hemiplegia, difficulty speaking, convulsions, dementia, aphasia, blindness, etc., which may even be life-threatening. Finally, we would like to remind middle-aged and elderly people that if they experience any symptoms, they must go to the hospital for treatment in time, and do not ignore the examination of subclavian artery stenosis.

I believe that all of you are already clear about the symptoms of subclavian artery stenosis. In addition, we would like to remind you that in addition to arteritis, some trauma can also cause subclavian artery stenosis. In addition, people over 50 years old who suffer from hypertension and diabetes all year round are also at high risk of subclavian artery stenosis.
