The significance of four blood lipid tests

It is very important to keep blood lipids at normal levels. However, as people age, high blood lipids are more common, so it is very important for potential patients to undergo relevant physical examinations. In the examination of blood lipids, the four blood lipid items are the main means, and the significance of the four items is also a matter of concern to many people. So, what is the significance of the four blood lipid tests? Let’s take a look below.

High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is likened to good cholesterol, which can prevent lipid deposition in the blood vessel walls. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is likened to bad cholesterol. If the level of bad cholesterol in the blood is too high, it will cause harm to the body, causing blood vessels to narrow or block, forming atherosclerosis, and leading to the occurrence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and stroke.

In daily life, people often say: high density is better, low density is better. If you understand these, you will be able to understand the inspection report yourself.

The fluctuation of total cholesterol index is related to many factors: 1. Physiological increase. Physiological factors such as smoking, drinking, high-fat diet, and stress may lead to an increase in total cholesterol;

Especially some lean meat products, animal offal, egg yolks, etc. It can also increase cholesterol.

2. Pathological increase. Diseases such as nephrotic syndrome, hyperlipoproteinemia, and obstructive jaundice can lead to an increase in total cholesterol. Some diseases can cause low cholesterol. Cirrhosis of the liver, malignant tumors, various lipoprotein defect states, etc. can lead to a decrease in total cholesterol;

We should be especially vigilant when triglycerides (TG) are too high. The normal range is 0.45~1.69mmol/L (the normal range varies in each hospital). Mild to moderate increases in triglycerides may increase the risk of coronary heart disease, and extreme increases may cause acute pancreatitis.

Once diagnosed with hyperlipidemia, the first thing to do is to intervene in the unhealthy lifestyle, which is the basis of blood lipid management. However, this does not mean that you cannot eat meat! This is a misunderstanding!
